Kimi Ga Nozomo Eien (a.k.a. Rumbling Hearts) is a 14 episode drama anime created by Studio Fantasia, that aired between 2003-2004. In this genre I have to say it's one of the best animes I have ever seen.

What starts as seemely another teen anime with a cliche storyline soon gives a huge turn to depict something that can happen to anyone of us: how can a rather unfortunate and tragic event completely change people involved in dire ways.

You know I don't like spoilers so I'll be rather vague about what happens in this anime. What I can say is this: as you watch Kimi Ga Nozomo Eien you'll discover a rather complex love triangle, one where guilt, memories of the past, depression and anxiety will create a pretty grim situation to all the major players.

What impresses me the most is that all of this could actually happen in real life. This is a drama anime. It's like a condensed soap opera. There's no super powers here. Only average people, with all the flaws that any human has, that are faced with a limit situation and have to cope with it the best way they can.

Sometimes they don't do it in the best way. A lot of mistakes will be made. Nobody is perfect... just like in the real world, actually. So you'll see a lot of sad things happening (some of them quite unavoidable) and I have to warn that it can affect you if you are emo like me. I cried a lot watching this anime.

Especially because I already experienced myself some failed relationships and this anime shows, in a crude way, how can a relationship between two people degrade to a point of no return (or not, as you'll find out if you watch Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien until the end). All the little details are present which I recognized since I lived some of them.

So this is educational folks. See the mistakes they are making. And try to avoid them. Of course, some are unnavoidable as I have mentioned early. Such is the wicked ways of destiny and life and the curse of living in the world we live.

But enough with my ramblings, let's get down to business shall we? So the strong points of this anime you already guessed. Storyline, of course, with a great plot and a fantastic character development. In just 14 episodes the personalities of the main characters are are masterfully shown to the watcher, not only by their present actions, but also through flashbacks of what they did at certain points in the past and their interaction with one another.

Another strong point in this department is that the support character actually support the main characters! They are not shallow, have their own problems and really do help their friends with some important decisions that they have to make!

Animation is quite good, not top notch stuff, but still nothing to sneer at. As a side note, you'll notice that a lot of female characters are very well... interesting... ^_^' This is because this anime was originally based on a h-game, so there's a lot of busty and curvy foxy ladies.

It's incredible how the producers managed to turn an hardcore title into a fantastic drama series, but that is just another key of Studio Fantasia genius and something that enriches this anime.

As for the sound arrangements, it's the less well successful area in Kimi Ga Nozomo Eien but even so I would grade it at least as average, so even if it won't stand out it certainly won't hurt the viewing experience of Rumbling Hearts.

So my final say on Kimi Ga Nozomo Eien is that this is certainly an anime that is worth seeing!

It will touch your heart and pull strongly towards your strongest emotions. However it's full of sadness, so avoid it if you're edging closer to a depression. Alas, it also has several lessons at the end of the road, which are on it's one worth it to anyone! Oh, by the way, it also has some nude scenes ~_~ This and it's heavy emotional setting makes me not recommend it to a viewing audience below 16 years.
